This is a close-up of my Galileo thermometer -taken with Ed's Coolpix 2000 camera on macro mode, with the flash turned off. Lighting was provided by a halogen desk lamp, and 6 incandescent bulbs mounted on the wall of the bathroom where this was taken. Also, behind the thermometer was a mirror which helped bounce light around as well.
I won a photo contest with this picture, but I really don't like it much. I think it's too busy -perhaps if some of the reflections were removed...
