I ordered my Performance Accessories 1 inch body lift from Summit www.summitracing.com and got it for about $75 shipped.
It took my boyfriend and I about 10 hours total over 2 days to install the kit. We are fairly new to this whole working on cars thing, and we worked at a fairly relaxed pace (stopping to yell at the dog repeatedly for eating our bushes, etc).
I found the instructions to be a bit confusing. The pictures weren't very good so we ended up wasting a lot of time trying to find what bolts they were talking about.
No new tools needed to be purchased for this project. You need:
A set of wrenches (metric and standard)
A ratchet (different sizes, small to large are helpful)
A set of sockets (metric and standard)
A torx bit/screwdriver (for removing the sway bar cover)
A breaker bar is helpful
Socket extenders are helpful
Jobs to give to someone else:
Anything involving the radiator (lost much skin here)
Removing the bolts on the steering bracket (you have fight the lock-tite the whole way out)
Removing the body-mount bolts that are way up behind the bumper and around the gas tankā¦
Where you're most likely to break something:
Taking the 4WD transfer case bracket off. They use these goofy rubber bushings/nut things to hold it on on the underside of the Jeep. I tore the rubber off of two of those things and couldn't get it back on tight for fear of wrecking the other two. (Looking for replacements.)
Suprisingly enough we didn't break any bolts, but it is a possibilty on the body-mounts especially if your Jeep is soaked in salt as mine is all winter!
