Chris95GST: I plan on getting a SPEC stage III clutch. Two local DSM shops like it more then the ACT and it is rated to hold 415hp and has a very light clutch feel which is a plus if you drive your car alot. http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=92201&highlight=ACT+clutch

Chris95GST: Although I don't have one yet, two local DSM shops in VA are starting to reccomend the SPEC clutches over ACT. I'm going to get a stage three rated at 415hp and held 475 on the shops GSX. I got to feel the clutch and it is alot lighter then ACT. Link Only problem is I can't find to many DSM people with them yet since it is a somewhat new thing. Alot of the Mustang and F-body people love them though. http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=91314&highlight=ACT+clutch

wortdog: I've had my SPEC Stage 2 paired with an ACT Flywheel for 4 months and 4500 miles or so. It grabs/releases very quickly due to being segmented, which is in-between a puck clutch and a full-face disk. Stalled the engine the first time I tried backing out of the driveway, heh. The clutch can be hard to modulate during launches, as it seems to grab more the hotter it gets, to a point(I guess, I've never actually felt it slip). The pedal pressure of the SPEC is a little higher than stock. There are a few other local DSMers running it as well, and I've never heard anything but praise for it.

I have some lingering doubts about its lifetime, as the kevlar friction material looks pretty thin.

In your position though, the 6-puck ACT clutch disk COULD be a decent alternative. Due to the on/off nature of pucked disks, you'll have to be extra careful while driving not let the clutch out too quickly between shifts and while launching. Otherwise you'll probably start breaking drivetrain parts. The 6-puck disk is the cheapest alternative because you can probably re-use your pressure plate.

If you don't mind a stiff pedal, the 2900 with a street disk will hold gobs of torque. Cokic and Shepard both run ACT 2900s with street disks, which helps keep parts from braking. The price of the 2900 with a street disk is probably comparable to the price of the SPEC clutch.

I went with the SPEC mainly because I like the way it feels vs the ACT 2600 w/street disk.

derrickd: i was told the 2100 would hold 13 in the 1/4 mile and 300 hp it suck i wouldnt put it on a honda my buddy has a spec clutch with 20 runs on a 400 hp car and the clutch is still great ACT SUCKS

TurboSpoolinIns: A buddy had a spec clutch on his 2g( stg 2? i dunno, a 3 puck(but for some odd reason it didnt grab like it)). It has burnt out on him and it's been under 5k miles. He isnt even making that much power either, probably 300 whp at most… So i say stick with the proven, ACT 2600.
