gotboost55: Is centerforce reliable?? Every thread that i have read says that ACT is better CFDF???am gettin cfdf put it tommorow but now since i have read all this i dont know!

peregrine: the cfdf is great!! they just dont last worth the sh*t. plan on replacing it within months if you abuse it. ither than that they work great.

InferiorWang: act's are about the best thing you can get for our cars. like peregrine said, the cfdf's wear out quickly for some people.

Philthmonger: if you install any clutch incorrectly it will not last. I have over 20k on my centerforce w/ daily beatdowns and track time, still holds like new

R-U-QUIKR: my centerforce dual friction only lasted 9months! I never raced on it ethier!

Boosting: i had one, about two thousand miles and it broke.

updoc21: If installed correctly and broken in correctly, with a fresh flywheel surface, it will last pretty well for you. Before ACTs came out, a friend of mine was putting in a new CFDF every four months in his Galant VR4, but he was at the track 3 times a week making 5-10 passes each time, and was replacing them every 4 months, but figure that was at least 180 passes. Oh, and the car was going high 11s at the time.

frontdriver: I put approx. 50k miles on my CFDF before it needed replacing. I replaced it with another CFDF.

BigBoost'98: I can only speak from my own experience, and a few others pushing big power, but the CFDF was brutal in my car. It glazed right over. From what I have found out, CF doesn't use weights in their pressure plates, because the bell housing on the DSM is too small to fit them in there like other applications have. My clutch glazed over as did other owners clutches. I use a Bully Stage 3, six puck clutch now, and it seems to be much better than the CFDF. One thing I've heard about ACT, is that they put too much emphasis on their pressure plates. This causes alot of strain on your crankshaft, and can be a contributing factor to crankwalk. If you are looking for a high performance clutch, and don;t mind spending some money, get a Clutch Masters clutch.

4pistons (Rick): quote: “I put approx. 50k miles on my CFDF before it needed replacing. I replaced it with another CFDF.” Ditto. My first one went to 68k miles and I have over 20k on the new one. I don't BEAT on it (for fear of breaking the tranny, not the clutch) but I am not delicate with it either. Mid 13s 1/4 mile, 1.84 60 ft., Autocross it once a month (in nice weather) and that's alot harder on the clutch than drag racing. I am very happy with the Centerforce clutch. Silver98GSX: Umm… all upgraded clutches have upgraded pressure plates. Like the CFDF has a 2500 lb PP. Plus you have a first gen so that isnt going to be an issue. Mostly everyone on this board will tell you to go with a ACT 2600 so if you dont like that clutch or that answer, you might want to find another place to ask. I would say more then half of us that upgraded our clutch went with an ACT clutch. http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=75786&highlight=bully+clutch

RippinGSX: I have a CFDF and my opinion is it's a POS!! I broke it in properly and always let it cool between passes but it started slipping after about 6 months. ACT 2600 for an AWD DSM is the only clutch that is proven time and time again. http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=10562&highlight=exedy+clutch
