TRE: TRE-spec Center differential spool

TRE offers a center differential spool for the AWD DSM gearboxes. This allows the power to be sent equally to both the front and rear differentials, improving traction, by replacing the stock side & spider gears, that are inside your center differential, with a spool. This is the best way to lock the center diff.

The name “spool” is old drag racing slang for the drive wheels being “locked” together so that they both turn the same speed regardless of traction, wheel size etc…..

Drag racers like this part because it reduces their 60' times by as much as .2ths of a second. Rally guys like it because the car will oversteer when the gas is mashed.

The high quality spool is CNC'd from a one piece billet and allows the front pinion shaft and output shaft to “float” keeping unnecessary stress at the splines to a minimum. The increased spline lengths better distribute the load onto the shafts. The end result is that front pinion shaft or side gear failure is virtually eliminated.

The viscous coupling is replaced with a clever billet Aluminum output shaft retainer (purple), included. The spool and binders are heat treated for ultimate durability. This easily installs into the center diff without any modification or welding.
